I went to update my silverlight for netflix the other day (March 11, the day Microsoft released a new version) and after install, all I get is 'Plug-in failure' and a black screen. Running OS X 10.9.2, Safari 7.0.2 and Silverlight 5.1.30214.0.
Tried multiple deletions of the silverlight plugin and re-install, no avail. I heard disabling graphics switching is the trick, but that hasn't helped either. Despite the change in plans, the future of Silverlight is in doubt. Netflix should have switched to open standards. Silverlight locks out iPad and iPhone customers. It also locks out Andoid customers. This is not sustainable. Rather than clamoring for Google to add Microsoft proprietary technology to ChromeOS, you might be much better served by demanding that Netflix switch to open technology. I wonder what that Netflix/MS contract looks like. I called Netflix first. [Pro tip: Phone calls still work!]. The guy was super knowledgable and very pro-Apple. Also a Chrome user. They had nothing in their database about the issue. He seemed legitimately concerned -- then a bit relieved when he realized his 13' MBPr would be okay.

Wren dmg cracked for mac. Chrome is totally a hog but right now I have 16gb of RAM and a killer processor. Plus, like Apple integrating itself into every aspect of my life, I fully admit I'm allowing Google to do the same.
You gotta pick and choose your battles. But I'm very indecisive.
